Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KO’s) absolutely dominated Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KO’s) to retain his undisputed super middleweight championship at the T-Mobile Arena, showing that he is becoming increasingly confident of his place in boxing.
Despite not having finished the evening in Las Vegas, Nevada with a knockout, the Mexican said he feels in top form and in “unbeatable” shape.
“I’m a strong fighter, nobody can beat this ‘Canelo’. I got through 12 rounds and I never got tired, I showed who is the best,” he said at the end of the fight.

‘Canelo’ with an eye on ‘Cinco de Mayo’
At the same time, ‘Canelo’ signaled that ‘Cinco de Mayo’ would be his next fight, emphasizing that he will face anyone.
“‘Cinco de Mayo’. I don’t care who it is, let’s see who is next,” said Canelo.
Canelo won his 60th career victory in an unanimous decision, taking the judges‘ scorecards 119-108, 118-109 and 118-109 to retain his 168-pound unified championship.
Crawford in Charlo’s sights
On the other hand, while ‘Canelo’ did not want to commit to his next challenge, Charlo even in defeat, did the opposite by sending a message to Terrence Crawford, who was present at the T-Mobile Arena.

“I’m ready for whoever. I want to fight Terrence Crawford, I know he’s in here somewhere, I can fight with Crawford in my division. I can also face Errol Spence, I’m getting back to training tomorrow,” he said.
