MLS vs Liga MX: Episode III
This will be the third MLS All-Star Game that the two leagues have played each other, with MLS boasting an undefeated record of two wins.
In 2021, Los Angeles hosted the first edition, where MLS won 3-2 on penalty kicks. A year later, the victory was once again on the side of the U.S. league, in Minnesota with a 2-1 victory.
“It is a privilege to participate in the All-Star Game 2024 for the third time. LIGA MX will bring together its best players to form a competitive team”, said LIGA MX president Mikel Arriola.
“This will be another chapter in this sporting rivalry, which allows us to continue building a great partnership with MLS”, he added.
Messi ‘s first one?
Clearly, the excitement of the MLS All-Star Game will be much greater with a healthy Lionel Messi on the field.
What could get in the way of this happening, is his participation with the Argentine NationalTeam in their quest to defend the Copa America title in the United States this summer.
In case that Messi and the Argentine National team reach the final, it would be only 10 days before the MLS All-Star Game.
The MLS All-Star Week festival will also feature the well-known All-Star Skills Challenge, with 10 participants per team, taking place the day before on July 23, in addition to the various activities prior to the event, such as concerts, community service, among others in Columbus.
