Argentina established itself as Copa America favorite as it seeks back-to-back championships.

Three out of three, with nine points, and undefeated heading into the quarterfinals with Canada, the only Concacaf national team already qualified in the next phase.

- Argentina in search of a perfect defense
Argentina finished the group stage with a perfect record of three wins in their three matches to take the lead in Group A with nine points.
The reigning champions were the first team to qualify for Copa America quarterfinals since the second matchday when they beat Chile 1-0.
- Lautaro is once again among the top scorers
Once again, Lautaro Martinez responded when Argentina needed him by scoring both goals in the 2-0 victory.
At this moment, ‘El Toro’ is the top scorer of the tournament with four goals in three matches, ahead of Vinícius Jr., Darwin Núñez, Maxi Araújo and Folarin Balogun, who are all with two goals each.
- Peru could not do much
Peru arrived with little hope, and couldn’t do much to avoid its last dance at Copa América.
The ‘Incas’ remained in last place in Group A after scoring just one point in their 0-0 draw against Chile, and without scoring a single goal.

- CONCACAF has its first representative in quarterfinals
CONCACAF had six representatives at Copa America with them three future hosts for the 2026 World Cup: Mexico, the United States and Canada, the latter being the only team that has already earned its ticket to quarterfinals.
Mexico and the United States are not assured of their places, as both teams need to win their matches against Ecuador and Uruguay, respectively.
- Chile leaves as the fifth team with expelled
Defender Gabriel Suazo left Chile with a double-yellow card from minute 27, after slight contact in which he brought down Richie Laryea.
It is the fifth Copa America team to have at least one player expelled, joining Peru, Ecuador, Panama and Team USA. They left the tournament third place in Group A with two points.
- And the red card for Canada?
Controversy continues in the Copa America, this time in the match between Canada and Chile, where referee Wilmar Roldán was criticized for not reviewing the VAR for an aggression by Moise Bombito.
The Canadian defender hit Chilean midfielder Rodrigo Echeverría with his forearm in the opening minutes. Roldán did not point out any foul and did not use the technology to reverse the decision.
