Meanwhile, the Copa America opening game will be held at the home of Atlanta United,
Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which seats more than 71,000 spectators, as it kicks off the tournament on June 20.
“In Atlanta, the ball will start rolling and it won’t stop for a month until the final match in Miami. These are magnificent stadiums in wonderful cities. We are grateful for the valuable collaboration of the U.S. authorities and our friends at CONCACAF in the organization of this competition,” CONMEBOL added.
Victor Montagliani, CONCACAF president and FIFA vice-president, said that both Atlanta and Miami are “two world-class venues” and pointed out they will be “excellent hosts for these matches”.
2024 Copa America will feature 10 South American teams and six invited teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean as part of an agreement between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF.
The 48th edition of this competition will bring together 16 national teams for the second time in its history, as in 2016, when the United States also hosted the Continental Cup commemorating the centenary of the world’s oldest national team competition.
